This blend fits inside something called the Full Range Leadership Model.

That framework says leadership exists across a range:

  • transformational

  • transactional

  • laissez-faire

Translation:

  • You can inspire people.

  • You can manage performance.

  • Or you can disappear and hope the team sorts it out.

That last one?

Not recommended.

Laissez-faire leadership is basically:

“I trust the process.”

Except, there is no process, nobody is aligned, and Milton is quietly walking off with the stapler.

The point of the model is not “pick one forever.”

The point is that great leaders develop range.

Reflect:
Which part of the leadership range do you naturally lean toward?

Call to action:
Share this with a leader who needs both heart and structure, not one or the other.

If these leadership styles—Transactional vs. Transformational— are independent, what would the blended “third way” be called?
